Tis the season - for new camping gear?

As the gift-giving season approaches, maybe your Scout could use some new rain gear or a new sleeping bag.  There are lots of places to get good quality camping gear at reasonable prices.  Just ask any of the adult leaders for suggestions.

Annual Planning

It is time once again for Annual Planning.  This is when the Scouts plan the date and location of campouts for 2013.

Scouts should bring information for where they would like to go on monthly campouts and the 2013 High Adventure trip.  Remember, we can do just about anything and go just about anywhere if they are willing to put in the work for planning and fundraising.

Annual Planning: Sunday October 28th, 3pm at Jaycee Park (west 4th St, 2 blocks behind Subway).

Fall Highway Cleanup

Highway Cleanup: 3pm Sunday October 21st


Troop 47's fall Highway Cleanup is Sunday, October 21st.  Please meet at the boat ramp (just across the first bridge on Highway 150) at 3pm.  Cleanup usually takes about 2 hours.  Food will be provided when we are done.

It is once again time for an evening of food and recognition.  We have lots of awards to present so bring the whole family and cheer on all the Scouts.

Please bring a hot dish and a cold dish to share.  Please bring table service for your group.  Lemonade will be provided.

Upcoming Court of Honor

Reminder that next Monday, Apr 16th, is a Court of Honor.  All families should receive an invitation in the mail.

Court of Honor is a time to recognize our Scouts for their hard work and hear about upcoming activities.  Please feel free to invite extended family members.

Court of Honor is a pot luck dinner.  Please bring a hot dish and a cold dish to share.  Please bring table service for your group.

The program will include information about summer camp (plan to may your summer camp payment now for best Merit Badge selection) and the 2013 National Scout Jamboree.

UPDATE: Highway Cleanup location change

Highway cleanup on April 29th : We will meet at the Izaak 
Walton chapter house at 4pm, not at the boat ramp like usual.

CPR training - followup

If you were at the meeting on 20-March and filled out the paperwork to get your CPR card, the cost of the card is $6.  Please bring this as soon as possible so we can pay for the cards when they come in.

Highway Cleanup

Spring highway clean up is set for Sunday April 29th.  We'll meet at 4pm at the Izaak Walton chapter house.  Food will be provided afterwards to those who helped.  HINT: it wont be pizza this time...

BSA Swim Test

Rob Levis will be offering Scouts a chance to take the BSA swim test that is needed for Second Class rank and First Class rank.  Rob is the Vinton-Shellsburg boys swim team coach and a member of the Troop Committee.

Time: Dressed and pool-side at 6:45pm, dont be late
